Divergent Yachting Head of Compliance David Goldie presented the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry ‘Ships Cook’ certificate to Richard Cullen, the Executive Chef onboard Superyacht Black Pearl. Richard successfully ran his own restaurant in Staffordshire which was voted ‘Best Restaurant’ in Staffordshire in 2014 gaining entry in to the Michelin Guide in 2015 before deciding to pursue a yachting career. His previous yachts include Sailing Yacht Maltese Falcon and the classic schooner Shenandoah of Sark.
Prior to yachting, Richard worked and trained in quality kitchens including the Michelin starred Claridges under the tutelage of Gordon Ramsey, the Dorchester Hotel and Hibiscus. In 2009 he won the title of Staffordshire Masterchef and became the youngest contestant to appear on the television series Masterchef the Professionals. In 2013 he re-appeared on television as a final ten contestant in the prestigious Roux Scholarship cooking for a number of renowned chefs including Michel Roux Jr, Rick Stein and James Martin.
